Implosions is an investigation of the terms improvisation and cooperation within current and future music and sound art. By using coinsidence as the starting point for improvisation and cooperation, the two artists creates a number of sounding object in the form of machines, sculptures, intruments etc. This is done separetely in the artists studios without any kind of collaboration, where not even the process of work or the result is beeing discussed between the artists. The sound objects is then being put together in an installation where the different sounds are being mixed together by both the artists during the opening.

IMPLOSIONS is a project that takes it’s starting point in Audio Laboratory, a sound art collboration that started in Gothenburg in 1997 by the artists Henrik Rylander and Per Svensson. An improvisational  concept that means to unconditionally perform concerts without any common rehearsels. Audio Laboratory is today a group of artists and musicians with the following members: Henrik Rylander, Per Svensson, Jean-Louis Huhta, Ebbot Lundberg and Patrick Caganis. Audio Laboratory has released a self-titled CD and a DVD (both on Firework Edition Records) and is at the moment working on a second record.

HENRIK RYLANDER was born in Malmö in 1966, but lives and works in Gothenburg since many years. His music career started as a drummer in the nowadays legendary band Union Carbide Productions. Rylander then continued to get a msters degree as a photographer and start his soloa career as a musician. By the end of the ninities he released his first solo album, which up to this day has been followed by three more, and he also started to exhibit his works in solo and group art shows. He has also performed a lot live in Sweden and Europe. Rylander today moves in the area where the borders between exhibitions, performances, concerts, clubs and galleries are being erased or at least getting fuzzy.

PER SVENSSON was born in 1965 in Gothenburg, but has lived in worked mostly in Stockholm, where he founded Kolsyrefabriken that is still higly active. He has a degree from the Royal Art Academy from 1990 and has since worked with art projects, super-8 films and sound. He also has an architechture degree, which often is visible in his art expression. He has taken part of numerous exhibitions, publications and sound projects and performed with music and performances since the mid-eighties. Svensson is currently workign on the sound art project Resonance at the Financial School in Stockholm.

HENRIK RYLANDER föddes i Malmö 1966, men bor och arbetar i Göteborg sedan många år. I slutet av 90-talet släppte han sin första soloskiva, varefter tre har följt till dags dato, samt gjorde sin första soloutställning, som följts av flertalet solo och grupputställningar. Han har även framträtt live både i Sverige och Europa flitigt genom åren. Rylander rör sig idag mestadels inom ljud(konst)världen, där gränserna mellan utställningar, performances, spelningar, klubbar och gallerier suddats ut till stor del.

PER SVENSSON föddes 1965 i Göteborg, men har bott och arbetat till stor del i Stockholm, där han grundade ännu aktiva Kolsyrefabriken. Idag är han dock nyinflyttad skåning. Han gick ut Kungliga Konsthögskolan 1990 och har sedan dess arbetat med konstprojekt, Super-8 film och ljudverk. Sedermera har han även en examen i arkitektur, vilket han ofta integrerat i sitt konstnärliga uttryck. Han har deltagit i otaliga utställningar och publikationer, samt drivit ljudprojekt och framfört musik och performances sedan mitten av 80-talet. Svensson är just nu aktuell med ljudkonstprojektet Resonance på Handelshögskolan i Stockholm.
